Petplanet is a privately held business headquartered in Livingston, Scotland. We are fully independent and have no ties to any manufacturers or traditional (i.e. ‘bricks and mortar’ shops or catalogue based) retailers. A team of over 20 people (including fully qualified vets, a dermatologist, and a behavioural specialist) are responsible for creating the content you find on our site.

We founded the business in mid-1999 as a result of frustration at the poor quality of pet information and services available on the Internet for UK pet lovers. Both of the founding partners have been surrounded by pets for most of their lives, and are keen to encourage responsible and informed pet ownership. PetPlanet will never be involved in the direct resale of pets.

It is our intention to foster positive relationships with the registered pet charities and breed societies through ongoing consultation and by seeking their approval for all relevant content.
